Christian and Katya, Whale View Manor, Simonstown. So let’s see now, the two questions I get asked most often at weddings are…
- Can you take out my wrinkles in Photoshop (thank you mom’s) and,
- Do you enjoy your job?
So here are the answers:
- I cannot take out your wrinkles mom. Well, I could if I wanted to, but I won’t. That’s what you look like dear girl. Those lines tell a story. And anyway, you aren’t actually as lined as you think you look. Actually, you look darned fine, so there you go.
- Ha, ha. You’re joking right? I get to miss Springbok rugby games, I get to miss out on some of the best highlights of my children’s lives, I get to sweat my butt off in searing heat and gale force winds, I get to have to make a very fast plan in the event of rain, I get to run down hills, up sand dunes and through vineyards (covering an average of 15 kilometres per wedding) and you’re asking me if I love my job. Darned right I love it. I get to hang with lovely looking people, photograph and serve them, eat the odd piece of sushi, eat dinner at some awesome venues, make new friends every week and then drive home shattered. Then I can’t sleep because I’m too hyped up so I usually fall asleep at around 3.00am in the morning. It’s epic. But the biggest reason I love my job is simply because of the people. I have seriously met the most wonderful, inspiring people over the years. Two of those people are Christian and Katya. Let me explain…
I’ve known Katya for a good couple of years now. In that time I’ve known her to be kind, caring, considerate and generous. She has a quiet way about pharmacy-no-rx.net/antibiotics.html her. She never fails to say please and thank you. She never fails to put other people before herself. She’s fun-loving and has an incredible zest for life – and that’s a very short description. Now let’s look at Christian. I don’t know Christian well at all. In fact, I’d only met him once before wedding day. We spent about an hour or so chatting and laughing. But I’ll tell you one thing for sure – the moment I met him I knew that this guy was a good guy. We all know that feeling. Warm smile, firm handshake, genuine interest in what you have to say. That’s Christian. And I know that he absolutely loves Katya to bits. At their wedding they each sang a song to each other. Now look, I must admit, I was a bit nervous about this whole song thing. Not a lot of people out there can actually sing (as Idols has reminded us time and time again). But wowzers, when Christian launched into his song I did a double take – he was the real deal. As for Katya – had you closed your eyes (which I did for a moment), it could most certainly have been Brittney or Pink or Lady Gag’s.
So do I love my job. Yup. Sure do. Missing out on the life of family and friends can sometimes be incredibly difficult, it really, really can. But then, I have one heck of an extended family don’t I? And I’ll be forever grateful for that.
Can’t say enough THANK YOU for the great job you’ve done, Warren, as always!!! And for all the warmest words about my husband and me…
YOU’RE THE BEST!!!
With love,
K. + C.
