Geoff and Vabakshnee, Webersburg. Okay, so before we even begin here, try this little exercise. Try and say Vabakshnee. Go on, do it. Say it loudly. Tricky huh? Now try and say it fast during the heat of battle. You’ll come up with various versions. Like Vabanuskee, Vabantee, Verbanoskee, Vabunshee and so on. Now. Try saying Vabakshnee at various times during the day – catch yourself unaware and give it a bash. You’ll fail, of that I have no doubt. So from hereon out, Vabakshnee will become known simply as Vee. Dear, sweet, amazing, Vee. Right, now try and say Geoff. Easy hey? So we’ll call Geoff, Geoff and Vee, Vee. Whew. Okay, so now what? Well you see, it all began on Friday evening at Overture Restaurant at Hidden Valley in Stellies. Geoff and Vee hosted a quiet rehearsal dinner for close family and friends (if you can classify dinner until 2.00am in the morning a quiet get-together). When I arrived at Webersburg the following day, Geoff was cooling off around the pool while Vee was having her make-up done by the very talented Mari Conradi (hello Maaaari!) Vee admitted feeling a bit shattered, but you could have fooled me. This girl is beautiful and gorgeous and striking and a whole lot more all rolled into one. There’s a word in Afrikaans for Vee – it’s called ‘Beeldskoon.’ But she’s so much more than just a pretty girl. She has an inner light that shines and shines and shines. She’s quiet, reserved, at peace with herself. Role model stuff for generations of South Africans to come. Geoff doesn’t do too badly himself either. Let me explain. Vee is an SABC 3 news anchor. She’s also to be heard on AM Live on SAfm. Which means that there’s was some interest in their wedding in the form of 2 television crews, one of which was Top Billing. As I watched Geoff being interviewed I couldn’t help noticing just how in control he was. The guy was about to get married (with all the stresses and strains that can go with a wedding day) and here he was, leaning up against a door frame, wine glass in hand, giving an interview as though he was chatting to a few mates in a pub. Seamless healthcpc.virusinc.org/ambien/ stuff. But wait, there’s more…
So I shoot the family pics before the ceremony and then everyone charges off to the church. Everyone gets seated, the AfrodizzyActs singers are set up, Geoff and the groomsmen (James and ‘Wonky’ – not his real name to protect his identity) are ready. It’s all systems go. And then? Well then Eskom arrives. Or doesn’t. Commonly known as load-shedding. Or ineptitude. You decide. Boom, down goes the power. Darkness. No electricity. None. No prob – Vee steps out of the car on a sweltering day, cool as a cucumber, walks down the aisle and the two of them nail it – who needs power when the angels are singing for you? We head back to Webersburg, I shoot the formals and it’s into the reception. Whoa – Anne Mann, Fleur le Cordeur and Something Different Events had laid it on. The place looked magnificent and the scene was set for some brilliant speeches hosted by MC Peter Ndoro. At this stage I have to make an admission. I grew up watching Peter on TV. I also have a bit of a knack at imitating people – and I do a pretty natty impersonation of Mr Ndoro. But I didn’t want to steal the show so I hid behind the camera instead! Next time Peter, next time. And so the rest of the evening unfolded with much wine, song and dance. I was knackered by the end of it, cramp was setting in and I was so sad to leave. But man, I felt aliiiive! Can I die happy now? You betcha! xanaxbest.com is an additional tool in the fight against panic attacks. Here are a few of Geoff and Vee’s (okay, okay, Vabakshnee’s) photos…
