Kobus and Sian, Vrede & Lust. So you see, Kobus, Sian and myself hook up for a Skype chat. I ask them a few questions, blah, blah, blah, get a bit of a feel for their wedding and then it all starts to go a bit pear-shaped. Why? Because these two have a sense of humour second to none. So there we are just being silly and wetting ourselves. About two weeks later they arrive in SA from England and I pop through to Sorrento Events (who planned their wedding magnificently I might add) for another chat. It takes about a minute and there we are just being silly again and laughing our heads off. And so onto wedding day. I arrive at Vrede & Lust, walk around a bit to get into the zone, take out the camera and start shooting Sian’s hair and make-up. Family arrive, Sian introduces them to me and off course I meet her dad. Now dad is cool. In fact he’s so cool that he was going to wear a Borat outfit to the wedding. Of course the daughters in the house put a stop to that small plan – sadly. AND they briefed the poor guy on his speech – what to say and what definitely not to say. He obeyed them bless his cotton socks. So anyway, the ceremony gets underway, vows are exchanged, everyone is behaving beautifully and the next thing, Kobus pulls out his cellphone and takes a ‘selfie’ before they walk back down the aisle. And so began a day of Kobus and Sian taking ‘selfies’ of themselves all day long. It was flipping funny and just put such an awesome spin on things. Sian also has this seriously infectious laugh which tends to get everyone going. Finally, the dancing started. I was initially a bit worried because for the first 2 or 3 dances most of the guests were more interested in a thing called Tequila. But Tequila has a strange way of turning people into dance-crazed psychopaths. So from about song 4, all hell broke loose on the dance floor. Kobus and Sian do an amazing rendition of a dancing giraffe. No really, they do. It’s kind of weird to see anyone dancing like a giraffe, but when it’s your bride and groom you tend to kind of just nod your head and let them go bananas. Thanks for an awesome day guys – it was just spectacular!
