Lisa and Miguel, Montpellier, Tulbagh. So I’ve seen brides arrive to the delight of guests in a number of ways– on boats, a helicopter, horse-drawn carriages, vintage cars, mopeds, tractors, a bus, and on foot (even a bride who climbed over a wall to get to her groom). But what I haven’t seen (until Lees and Mig’s wedding that is), is guests arriving by truck, and in this instance, a farm truck. Montpellier in Tulbagh is an awesome venue with a small chapel set back from the main venue on the top of a hill. To get there, you can of course use your own foot power. But why would you even contemplate heading off under your own steam when you can just hop on said ‘trok’ and go big. You can even enjoy a frosty on the way up the hill as that old machine rumbles its way up, then slips down, then up, then slips down the hill – all in first gear, to the somewhat excited yet slightly terrified shrieks of laughter from its passengers. Disembarking from that truck is also a bit interesting. It’s okay for the boys who just jump from it. But for the girls in skirts and short dresses it’s an extremely interesting exercise in maintaining elegance and composure under duress. I had to turn and look the other way more than once for fear of blushing. But in the end it was all good and rather entertaining. Lees also opted to arrive in the truck with her awesome bridesmaids and it just set such a great tone for the rest of the day. After the ceremony it was into Lisa’s dad’s red Alpha for the bridal pics as guests munched on delicious platters in the garden. Veeeery, very nice I tell you. Very nice. Montpellier is fantastic of you want plenty of photo options and the hubby and wife team who run it are doing the place great justice. The food wasn’t just outstanding, it was also very plentiful – you could have fed the guests three times over with the quantity they served up. Â Would I recommend Montpellier?
