Let me tell you something about Lisa. She likes a photo. Actually, she likes a lot of photos. Now let me tell you something about Shlomi. He doesn’t like a photo. Actually, he doesn’t like to pose for photos. Problematic. Bride wants lots of photos, groom wants just a few photos. I know this because Lisa and Shlomi told me this – more than once in no uncertain terms. Now add in the prospect of some hectic rain just to add to the fun and you have a really interesting day in the making. So wedding day came and off I went with umbrellas packed and plans A, B and C in my head to handle the possible challenges that lay ahead. And yes, planning is everything in this business. Well now, let’s see what happened. The rain poured, then cleared, then poured, then cleared. No problems there – just had to dodge a couple of bullets, but all good. I get through the hair and make-up with no probe, meet the incredibly awesome bridesmaids – wonderful, wonderful girls. Pop off to Suikerbossie, say howzit to Shlomi, snap away, all good. Lisa arrives, day going nicely. Shoot ceremony and family pics – wonderful stuff, lots of laughing. Off we go down to Hout Bay Harbour, it’s cold, bridesmaids are freezing. Lots of ‘can we go now Warren’ from the bridesmaids. ‘No you can’t, you can freeze to death for all I care’ I say. All good. And then it’s time for Lisa and Shlomi to sing for their supper. Lovely. And it’s at this point that Shlomi decides that he quite likes the idea of being a model. Uh-oh. Curve ball. I thought he didn’t like posing for photos. Could have fooled me. But he didn’t. Because let me tell you, I’ve heard it all before and I knew that when push came to shove, Shlomi would be out of the starting blocks like one Usain Bolt. And what a champ he was as he and Lisa hammed it up in front of the camera. I LOVED this shoot. They came to the party in every single respect and then some. I was so bloody excited about post-processing the photos that I got home, opened a beer and the next thing it was 4.00am in the morning as I sat editing away. Thanks guys, what a fine, fine day.
