Welcome to Mario and Mellisa’s wedding, alternatively known as the: Does anyone have a Portuguese language handbook handy?’ wedding. Okay sure, a lot of people spoke English, but there were a few key players who um, didn’t. So me saying something like: ‘could I ask you 5 people over there to please move 15 paces to the left so that you’re not in the main family photo’ didn’t really work. Instead the family themselves started trotting off in the wrong direction. Then of course, there were some who sort-of understood what I said, but instead of moving off, simply moved from the right of the shot to the left of the shot and settled down to a bit of innocent banter. It was all a bit confusing really. But we soon managed to get things right and I think everyone had a relatively good time as we did our thing in the vineyards. Once the family were done and dusted, we headed off down the obligatory dusty farm road to a set of soccer goals in some yon, distant field where Mario and Mellisa impressed with their problems with generic cymbalta soccer skills. Okay, Mario imperessed; Melissa did a bit of a netball-kind-of-girlie-cricket-throw-sort-of-lunge-and-kick thing. But it didn’t really matter. The point is, she was taking part. And anyway, she looked far better than any other soccer player in a thousand miles so who cares. Then it was onto the reception where I must tell you, I was extremely impressed with the effort that the management and staff at Stellenrust put in. Good food, excellent dessert – yup, the guests must have been delighted. Hats off to you Stellenrust. One last thing – just before I left I was delighted to meet a young lady who is a ‘fan’ (I really wish they’d change it to something less backpatting) on my Facebook page. Mellisa and Mario had given her permission to pop in and say hi before I left. I was absolutely blown away by the thought of how someone could make a special trip (in the middle of the night), to come and introduce themselves. My girl, you make this a very special profession to be in, thank you. Here are a few of Mario and Mellisa’s photos…
