The van Niekerk’s family photo shoot started with an SMS at 6.30am in the morning : ‘Howzit Phil, we’re on, can we meet at 7.15am?’ Phil responded: ‘Ja sure, but there are raindrops falling on my head.’ Of course, I knew this – I was standing outside in a towel (brilliant sight), and it was indeed raining. But knowing the West Coast weather it was probably going to blow over an be done. I’d also shot two Trash the Dresses in the 2 weeks preceding and I was quite keen for the cloud cover to give us some drama and all. 7.15am arrived and Phil and Lisa pulled up in the car with the kids in tow. ‘Howzit okes!’ I chirped into the back window. Zip response. Well okay, there was a bit of a huff that emanated from somewhere in the back, but who knows where it came from. ‘Hmmm, the mob are not exactly overjoyed at the prospect of a photo shoot this morning I see.’ Phil and Lisa nodded in agreement with a ‘yup’ to go along with it. ‘Not to worry kids,’ I said – ‘you’ll premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/antibiotics/ soon be so bloody uncomfortable and cold that you’ll do anything I say just so you can get out of hell and back to the warmth of a nice warm fire. Now let’s roll dudes!’ And that was that – Caitlin, Michaela and Brent ate the photo shoot for breakfast – climbing in with vigour and going flat out for maximum points. But I never doubted it for a moment to be quite honest. Phil and Lisa build them tough as nails – the girls swim like machines and Brent (he’s a serious bro of mine), is a machine. A serious machine – you don’t want to be in his way on the rugby field – unless of course you have a fine appreciation of nurses and hospital food. So we travelled around here and there, bit down as the wind and rain caught us and then finished things off in the pretty cold waters of Langebaan Lagoon. Thanks for an awesome morning chaps – I have such a cool idea for your next shoot, but whoa, we’re going to all need to be brave…
